It started at my own wedding in 2013...

My mom had spent months hunting down the perfect vases and candelabras for our centerpieces. My dad hand-painted every single table number sign.  My grandparents hot glued beautiful flowers to the seating cards. It was a complete labor of love and a family affair, and it was absolutely beautiful.

And at the end of the night, we were hauling those vases to the curb to dump the water out. We were wrapping up the candelabras. We were packing every DIY piece my family had poured their hearts into — all before the venue kicked us out. Still in our wedding dress, mother-of-the-bride dress, and tuxedo. Exhausted after the most emotional day of our lives.

Nobody warned me. I hadn't planned for it. Nobody does.

Then my first sister got married in 2021. We did it all again. Different venue, different decor, same midnight scramble. Same exhausted family. Same "why does nobody exist for this" feeling.

Then my second sister got married in 2023. I was 37 weeks pregnant. Thirty. Seven. Weeks. And there I was, bending down to pick up personalized signs, taking apart centerpieces, and loading things into cars — because that's just what you do when it's family. You show up. Even when you're the size of a small planet.

Us three older sisters finally drew a line in the sand with our youngest sister: please, for the love of everything, just elope. We were done. We were so done.

I'm old enough to have lived this — three times over — and young enough to know exactly how many people are going through it right now. The brides don't see it coming. But the moms? The moms already know. They've been dreading the end of the night since the save-the-dates went out.

Party's Over exists because no family should end a wedding doing what mine did. You gave everything to that day. You deserve to leave it as a guest — not a cleanup crew.
